Who is Jesus?

Jesus has been lauded as many things: A good man; A great moral teacher; A man of wisdom; The personification of love. True as all these plaudits are he was more than a mere man.

His claims about himself are indeed staggering. By declaring he was able to forgive sins he was claiming to be equal to God. He stated that if anyone had seen Him they had indeed encountered God. To one group of people he claimed that He and God the Father were one (and the same!).

Now a man could claim to be anything, even a Brussel Sprout, but that by no means makes him one! Yet when the life of Jesus Christ is examined it bears up to His claims. When someone claims to be God you must ask “what kind of things would God do if He were amongst us?” Jesus did them!

At a wedding He turned water to wine. He fed over 5,000 people with just a small handful of fish and bread. He commanded a storm out of existence. He healed blind eyes… deaf ears... mute tongues... The paralysed could walk again. He freed people from demonic forces that had dominated their lives. He raised the dead. He himself beat death and rose from His tomb after three days. His love was overwhelming especially for the loveless: Sinners, Prostitutes, Lepers even Tax collectors! There is no doubt He walked the talk. Amazingly He fulfilled over 300 prophecies uttered hundreds of years before his birth!

What is so incredible, is the reason for His birth... He was born to die! Born to suffer on a Roman cross and in doing so pay the penalty for all the things we will ever do wrong and make a way for the forgiveness of God to flood our lives.
